Rustic Pear, Sweet Sausage and Green Apple Stuffing

IMG_9464

In case you hadn’t noticed…I have gone all out with pears this Thanksgiving!
Bosc and Secklund Pears are a beautiful fall fruit and work well with chicken or turkey. Using the same fruits and veggies throughout the meal keep it simple when shopping, but also help to create a cohesive taste to the entire dinner as well!

This Rustic Pear, Sweet Sausage and Green Apple Stuffing will be gobbled up just as quickly as the Turkey!

It can be prepared the day ahead making it the perfect side dish this Thanksgiving.

German Potato Salad

IMG_8123

If you ask ten different people, I’ll bet they will have ten different methods to making the best potato salad! I happen to love the potato and egg salad that is made at R&S, but it’s fun to change it up as well.

The combination of potatoes, Applewood smoked bacon, and Rapacki spicy brown mustard in the following recipe are enough to start my mouth watering…I’ve also added some fresh dill and a few other fresh herbs to send this warm German potato salad over the top!

Fresh Corn and Black Bean Salad

I love fresh vegetables, they can elevate a dish just with the vibrant colors themselves! Combine a few veggies together to make a summer salad…and I’m in heaven!

As I’ve said lately, I have been spending more time at the Meat Market. It has been very beneficial to our dinners, as now I am inspired first hand by the dishes that all of our customers are making with their purchases.

A special customer gave me the following recipe for a yummy fresh corn salad, and I have become hooked on it!

So have The Butcher and our boys. The great thing is that this corn salad can be served warm or cold…so delicious!

Mother’s Day Brunch Menu

“Hope” is the thing with feathers-

That perches in the soul-

And sings the tune without the words-

And never stops- at all-

~An excerpt from the poem “Hope” is the thing with feathers~ Emily Dickinson

This passage from the poem written by Emily Dickinson is a favorite of mine. I feel it is especially relevant on this special weekend when we honor all of our wonderful and dedicated mothers.

This poem reminds me of the tireless hope, that we, as Mothers, and as parents feel for our children’s future dreams and aspirations. Becoming  a Mother or even “like a Mother” to a child, changes the way we think, act and feel. Suddenly, there is much more appreciation for the little things, as well as much more admiration for our own Mother’s and the time and effort it took for them to raise us.

A Mother never stops hoping that her child will be the best version of themselves; healthy, safe and happy.
