This “Corn Dog” bread is a fun spin on the traditional corn dog. It is super simple to put together and can be made ahead and reheated with great results. I made this “Corn Dog” Bread for my boys… and they loved it! There were two trays, and they both quickly disappeared..
Make this bread as a fun appetizer for your next game day get-together.
Follow the gallery for step by step how to:
- To make this simple corn bread, you will need one 8×8 square baking pan, two boxes of jiffy corn muffin mix, one package of Rapacki Hot dogs…(which happen to be made right here on Long Island!)
- Cut three hot dogs into 12 small pieces.
- Pre heat the oven to 400 degrees fahrenheit. Prepare the bottom of the pan with Olive Oil or baking spray. Mix the corn bread according to the package directions. I mixed the two packages at once. Spread half of the mix into the bottom of the pan. Place the hot dogs on top of the mixture.
- Top off with the leftover corn bread mix. Spread to cover the hot dogs.
- Bake at 400 degrees for about 20-25 minutes.
- I like to turn the pan once or twice during baking …this will help it get an even golden brown on top. Let the bread cool in the pan for 15 minutes.
- After the bread has cooled for 15 minutes, invert the pan onto a cooling rack to remove the bread. Then let it cool another 10 minutes before slicing into twelve pieces.
- You can make this ahead and heat for a few minutes before serving. It will be a fan favorite!
This “Corn Dog” bread can easily be made Gluten Free- I like to use Pamela’s Gluten Free Cornbread Mix. You will also need to use Boar’s Head Brand Hot Dogs that are labeled Gluten Free…My boys never knew the difference when I made the Gluten Free version…check out the pics below:
- You cannot tell that this cornbread mix is Gluten Free…..So delicious!
- The batter is little bit thinner than the regular Jiffy mix, so I just placed the hot dogs (Boar’s Head Gluten Free) down on top of the batter and let them sink in a little bit….No one knew they were eating Gluten Free….
May your favorite team win!
